If you’re anything like me, you’re an entrepreneurial woman who is heart-centered and wants to make a HUGE impact in this world.
Have you started on your entrepreneurial journey only to feel like you’ve created a hobby versus a business?
Do you ever feel bad about asking for money in exchange for your services?
Does it make you feel anxious or uneasy when you spend money, even when it’s on your personal development?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, it’s a signal that you’re doing something wrong.
In fact, I’d be willing to bet that you’re either too focused on the money or too focused on the heart (aka your values).
What is your definition of success?
Any successful person will be able to answer in her sleep – I know I’m being successful when… and list all the things.
Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose; the attainment of popularity or profit; a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity.
I want to focus on purpose and profit. Doing something you love and loving what you do is what most people dream of, let alone having the courage to actually do it.
If you have a business with no revenue, it’s just a hobby; If you have a business with just money, it’s not fulfilling.
Just like if you have a career that you love without fair compensation, or a career with great compensation but that you hate.
To me, success is when you do things that allow you to meet your income and wealth goals as well as your own purpose and values.
So, what is YOUR definition? How would you describe success for you? What are the activities you do, that when you do them, you know you’re being successful?
If you have a hobby, you don’t have revenue, and before you know it, you are robbing hundreds, if not thousands of people from their chance to help them in a way that no one else can because you couldn’t sustain your business.
New businesses fail in the first 1-5 years: FACT
If you can make it past 5 years, you’re golden BUT the first 5 years are the hardest!
So what are the things you do, that when you do them, you know you’re being successful
One of mine was exercise every day. I know I’m successful in my day when the first thing I do is go to the gym or do some form of exercise at home. I know that when I’m fresh and energized in the morning, I’m not thinking about it the whole day and I’m much more alert. It lights me up.
These are not things that you just show up and do, no no, you need to do these and feel it in your heart and soul.
For example, I know I’m being successful when I’m mentoring other people and when I’m inspiring others to take massive action… or when I’m teaching…
What else? When I’m getting people to shift their mindset, shift their state of mind and know they can do it. When I’m making an impact in the world.
Get your priorities straight!
Ok so now that we know what being successful really means, the next part is prioritize to grow.
What are you prioritizing right now? Is it other people? Is it projects that don’t make you money, but give you lots of satisfaction or vice versa?
That’s what I want you to think about right now. Let’s get really clear.
If you were carrying a little paper in your pocket and you pulled it out when anybody asked you, “When are you successful?” What would your paper read, “I know I’m being successful when…” here’s the 5 to 10 things.
I say 5-10 things because we don’t want to be doing too much – it’s a little bit like running an Indian-Mexican-Italian restaurant – If I want Mexican, I’m going to a Mexican Restaurant.
I am not making this up! This really exists in Spain!
For the the things you list, how much does each one make you and how would you score your satisfaction as it relates to your bigger picture goals?
What about how each project scores against your values and purpose?
When you can measure the results of what you’re doing, this is you thinking strategically about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
Using these strategies will help you stay focused on the things that you need to because you know that when you do them, you know you’re being successful.
