Let’s KISS! Keep It Simple Stupid

I’m back this week with a vengeance and a new motto! Let’s KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid!

In case you missed me on Life Strategies With Nat, which is the name of my Facebook Live Series, feel free to click below.

Are you the type of person that likes to overcomplicate things? If so, this one’s for you.

First off, this is not a negative, you want to learn to reframe and develop this as a strength.

Overthinkers

Overthinkers are critical thinkers. We are creative by nature and use our imagination to really explore an idea or concept.

It’s when overthinking leads to anxiety or stress that it becomes a problem because our mind and our bodies are not able to think critically in this state.

We become irrational, and can find ourselves stuck and spinning in circles, which can really impact our confidence and ability to make effective decisions. Sometimes people can make us feel negatively about this because we are sooo creative, and we like to get lost in the details.

BUT, when we learn to prioritize what’s important and control our feelings and thoughts, we can continue to think thoroughly about all of our options in a given situation, but without all the stress and with the right mindset that doesn’t let people sway us unnecessarily.

So what?

So what does it all mean, and why does it matter.

Because you are a bada$$, my friend, and I don’t want anything or anyone to block you from achieving ultimate success in all aspects of your life.

Keeping it Simple Stupid reduces overwhelm, gives you clarity and peace of mind, and is not just easier and clearer for you, but also for your clients, organization, and audience.

Here’s what I mean…

Everyone understands it, yourself included

The beauty of keeping things simple is that it it’s just that: it’s simple enough that anyone can get it, anyone can understand the vision.

The more complicated you make things for yourself and for others, whether through communication, planning or strategy, the greater the likelihood that you will suffer from overwhelm and the message will be lost all together. Whereas when you keep it simple, you are more clear, which enables you to create and stick to a clear vision that can be boiled down and communicated in simple terms. This is half the battle.

Let me talk about target audience for a sec because it’s something I realized after my business retreat after a lot of resistance – if you’re an entrepreneur, and you’re talking to many people in terms of your messaging, it’s likely that you won’t relate to anyone. This is so hard to hear, because if you’re like me, you want to help everyone.

It’s just physically and emotionally not possible. You need to do what’s right for you in a way that attracts your ideal clients.

With a clear vision, results are easier to measure.

Vision pulls you, motivation pushes you.

Overly complex strategies are not only hard to implement, but they can also make it more difficult to gauge results. It happens to those of us that are high achievers because we want to be good at everything, and when I say good, I mean perfect.

Be ok with not being perfect – first things first. Love yourself enough for being the best person you can be.

The most successful people have a clear direction, along with simple measurements that keep them on track. It’s one thing to measure, and it’s another thing to know what to measure.

When I was doing my CMA, CPA (Chartered Professional Accounting), measurements were key indicators that we would use to measure the health of a company. The same is true in your business or in your life.

If you have a goal, and it’s not measurable, then your goal needs to be more clear and more timely.

Mastering is more difficult with intricate strategies.

The thing about wanting to master everything, is that you end up mastering nothing.

When you make things more complicated, it will always take longer to implement let alone master. Keeping it simple stupid allows you to stay true to yourself because you’re not going in a million directions, constantly thinking in circles…

Keeping it simple means you know what you need to focus on as well.

When you are focused, you become unstoppable. When you become obsessed with your vision and you can see the results, your motivation levels up and you step into your power and realize your true potential.

The only way is to be authentic

Too often we try to stay in roles that may not be right for us. Maybe they were at one point, and we’ve grown out of them, or maybe they never were to begin with, but we kind of fell into it.

We evolve and we grow, and our definition of success changes as well.

When you step into your authentic self, your power if you will, you start to let go of old beliefs, even people that no longer serve you, or that no longer fit into your space because they’re impacting your energy, your ability to thrive.

You know this because you feel it. You don’t feel like you 100% of the time, you don’t realize your value, and you don’t have the confidence or courage to keep going.

You are not alone.
